Saving lives in modern buildings

Fundamentals of Passive Fire Protection

Post-installed reinforcing bars

Fire Protection is a critical consideration for all those who are responsible for creating the design, specifications, and construction of a building. It has to be also considered in the ongoing maintenance of occupied premises. The causes of fire vary and are unpredictable. Often the cause is outside the area of influence of design engineers and planners. But the ability to control the spread of a fire once it has started can still be influenced.

Effective fire control within a building is generally achieved through a combination of active system represented in alarm system, sprinkler system, suppression system, fire extinguishers or other proactive mechanical system and passive fire protection represented in Firestop system restricting the spread of fire to a defined fire compartment that is composed of fire rated walls, floors or ceilings.

Many times, due to cost and budget restrictions, firestop is not considered or just considered as a minor issue. This is not the case if building owners, architects, designers and general contractors take the correct firestop specifications and measures in an early phase of the construction project, it is their legal responsibility.

Our technical webinar will cover the fundamentals of passive fire protection. It is intended to give the necessary information to safely plan, design, specify and select an appropriate firestop system for any building

Topics to addressed:

·       Introduction and consequences of Fire in buildings

·       Fire Safe Building Construction & Code Requirements

·       Firestop System Testing & Listings

·       Beyond Fire Resistance – Secondary Attributes of Firestop

·       Specifying and selecting Firestop Systems

Who Should Attend this Webinar?

Architects, Construction Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, QC Engineers, All engineers who usually design and specify fire protection system in buildings, all engineers who supervise and inspect fire protection system.
